《远方》由十三个独立的部分组成，每个部分由一个固定机位长镜头完成，聚焦在人们在新环境下迷失的瞬间。没有任何对白和文字，只利用画面、声音和动作建构整个影片。这十三个镜头—或许神秘、或许现实、或许戏剧—尝试描述一种抽象的境况。。影片故事原型取材于苏村阻击战。1941年1月，八路军第115师教导3旅特务3营接到指令，为掩护鲁西军区行署机关的安全转移，将在苏村阻击数倍于己的日本精装部队。最终，包括营长钟铭新在内的126名战士壮烈牺牲，为军区机关和群众的安全转移赢得了宝贵时间，在鲁西抗战史上留下了色彩浓重的一笔。。Akbar has just turned eighteen.
